The Billion Bottle Project is recruiting volunteers to serve in a wide range of capacities. We are always seeking enthusiastic individuals from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about our mission. All positions at the Billion Bottle Project are volunteer and based in Cleveland, Ohio. Directors

Directors of the Billion Bottle Project are dynamic, motivated, and experienced leaders. All directors report to the Executive Director and are responsible for leading committees and mentoring interns. Applications are currently open for directorship terms from January through December 2019. The approximate time commitment expected of directors is 10 hours per week.

Executive Director

The Executive Director will be a team-oriented leader capable of balancing the dual mandate of the BBP mission in order to make an impact both locally and globally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic leadership and conflict resolution for all BBP teams
  • Ensuring fulfillment of all of the organization’s responsibilities, including recruiting individuals with appropriate skillsets
  • Representing BBP favorably to internal and external stakeholders, including the Board of Directors
  • Leading all standing committees
Engineering Director

The Engineering Director will be a goal-oriented manager capable of overseeing the multidisciplinary scientific research central to BBP’s impact.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Directing product design, engineering, bench testing, and manufacturing activities for BBP technology, including OSPRI
  • Managing laboratory resources and research personnel, including recruiting individuals with appropriate skillsets
  • Scientific oversight of all documentation, including grant proposals, grant reports, journal publications, conference presentations, and intellectual property disclosures
  • Serving on the following committees:
    • Grants Committee
    • Governance Committee
Finance Director

The Finance Director will be a flexible executive capable of growing BBP’s resources to maximize the impact of the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and pursuing grant, sponsorship, and other fundraising opportunities
  • Monitoring expenditures and investments in accordance with business plans and external agreements
  • Preparing documents for tax and regulatory filings
  • Serving on the following committees:
    • Events Committee
    • Grants Committee
    • Governance Committee
Marketing Director

The Marketing Director will be a strategic planner with an entrepreneurial spirit and a knack for inspiring others with his or her vision.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the branding and positioning of BBP in the local community
  • Developing and implementing international go-to-market strategies for BBP technology, such as the OSPRI
  • Designing promotional materials, presentations, and pitches
  • Serving on the following committees:
    • Events Committee
    • Grants Committee
Communications Director

The Communications Director will be a relationship-oriented grassroots organizer with an eye for perfection in written materials.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with local donors and partners
  • Managing BBP social media accounts and web presence
  • Overseeing the creation of all online and offline content
  • Reviewing all documents for errors before publishing
  • Serving on the following committees:
    • Events Committee
    • Grants Committee
Operations Director

The Operations Director will be a process-minded organizational guru with impeccable interpersonal skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing internal communications, meetings, and events in order to ensure the smooth functioning of all teams and committees
  • Working as an internal liaison for individuals and teams
  • Recordkeeping according to internal and external regulatory policies
  • Serving on the following committees:
    • Events Committee
    • Regulatory Committee
Impact Director

The Impact Director will be a data-driven strategist with the ability to maximize international social returns for our donors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Researching and defining the target populations for BBP technology, such as the OSPRI
  • Measuring, improving, and reporting the social, economic, and health impact of BBP
  • Overseeing all user research and field testing of BBP technology
  • Building and maintaining relationships with international partners
  • Serving on the following committees:
    • Grants Committee
Education Director

The Education Director will be a team-oriented leader and mentor with the ability to expand the vital education component of the BBP mission.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and cultivating the talents of students
  • Recruiting and matching mentors and students
  • Creating curriculum, goals, and deliverables for each internship.
  • Developing assessment and feedback mechanisms for all participants

Committee Members

Members of Billion Bottle Project committees contribute to specific activities and projects. The Standing Committees are led by the Executive Director and serve functions that span the organization. Each director leads a Director's Committee that assists with the responsibilities assigned to that Director. Committee appointments are made on a rolling basis with time commitments that vary greatly based on the appointment.

STANDING COMMITTEES

Events Committee

The Events Committee is responsible for organizing all events, including both fundraisers and advocacy events. Committee members may contribute by planning events, assisting during events, raising event attendance, and more. The permanent members of the committee are the Finance Director, Marketing Director, Communications Director, and Operations Director.

Grants Committee

The Grants Committee is responsible for managing all aspects of grant funding, including identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, executing contracts, and producing deliverables. In addition, the grants team is responsible for entry into competitions, such as business plan competitions. The permanent members of the committee are the Finance Director, Impact Director, Marketing Director, Engineering Director, and Communications Director.

Governance Committee

The Governance Committee is responsible for ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations, including the functions of accounting, legal, and oversight. Committee members may provide specialized expertise in any of these areas. The permanent members of the committee are the Finance Director, Operations Director, and Engineering Director.

Engineering Committee

This committee aids the Engineering Director in fulfilling the responsibilities of that role.

Finance Committee

This committee aids the Finance Director in fulfilling the responsibilities of that role.

Marketing Committee

This committee aids the Marketing Director in fulfilling the responsibilities of that role.

Impact Committee

This committee aids the Impact Director in fulfilling the responsibilities of that role.

Communications Committee

This committee aids the Communications Director in fulfilling the responsibilities of that role.

Education Committee

This committee aids the Education Director in fulfilling the responsibilities of that role.

Interns

Internships with the Billion Bottle Project are short-term, mentored positions in a specific discipline. Our internships are designed for upperclassmen undergraduate students. Applications are currently open for internships during Fall 2018. Appointments are made on a rolling basis. The time commitment expected of interns is approximately 10-20 hours per week.

Engineering Intern

Curricula for interns are developed on a case-by-case basis. Interns receive direct mentorship from BBP directors while taking ownership of their own projects.

Fundraising Intern

Curricula for interns are developed on a case-by-case basis. Interns receive direct mentorship from BBP directors while taking ownership of their own projects.

Marketing Intern

Curricula for interns are developed on a case-by-case basis. Interns receive direct mentorship from BBP directors while taking ownership of their own projects.

Communications Intern

Curricula for interns are developed on a case-by-case basis. Interns receive direct mentorship from BBP directors while taking ownership of their own projects.

Graphic Design Intern
